19th Century Iron & Opal Church Light
A unique antique hanging light made up of finely wrought iron "chains" with a decorative central scroll cross and a brass / iron three hook hanger (slightly modified here to enable elecric flex to pass through) paired with a slightly later (c1900) large opal glass oil lamp shade. English, approx mid 19th century. Retain their original black paint finish. Antique cast brass ceiling hook and vintage fixing screws also supplied. (see image showing everything included.) The overall height could be shortened or lengthened by removing one or more of the elements or adding additional ones *. *Please note i have further lengths of these beautifully and finely forged wrought iron hanging elements so i am able to supply a number of custom hanging lengths either on their own without light fittings or with light fittings / shades if suitable ones are available in stock. They came from one church and were originally used to hang oil lamps. Electrified with 2m fine black fabric flex and bronzed brass cordgrip / BC lampholder. Fine black patinated copper wire supplied to tie the flex to arms where needed (say middle of the long links). Overall height is 58"/147.5cm (from top of hooked ceiling plate to underside of shade - could be reduced or increased as explained above ). Max. diameter (shade) is 15.75" / 40cm. Weight is 2.64kg. I have a drawing with the dimensions of each element added if needed. For more / higher res images please see my blog which can be accessed through the news section of this (haes) website.
