Brass "Admiralty" Pattern Gimbal Lamp
An antique brass "admiralty" pattern gimbal lamp with a similar period or earlier etched and cut glass shade. English, early 20th century - 1920s. Probably made by William Mcgeoch & Co for a ship or ocean liner. (They made a wide range of domestic and marine electrical fittings including lighting for RMS Olympic, RMS Titanic and HMHS Brittanic, SS City of Paris, RMS Lusitania, RMS Mauretania). This one retaining it's original switched brass lampholder (stamped AP7996A). Great quality, excellent condition, original parts. Mainly cast brass with a spun brass (and cast iron weighed) base. Originally made for wall or table (vertical or horizontal) fitting. Rewired with 2.5m fabric flex, 3amp traditional phenolic plug. Fabric base fitted. Pat tested. Dimensions in inches/cms; 17"/43cm tall inc. shade. 5.5"/14cm base diameter. Weight 2.62kg. I have three similar lights awaiting restoration.
