Iron & Brass Gas Wall Light, 19th Century.
An antique 19th century wall lamp, the tapered drawn steel knopped stem with moulded circular backplate, brass scroll decoration , cut out "crown" brass ferrule and brass gas tap fittings.English c1880. Likely from a church. The fitting has been polished and waxed for protection. Has now been wired for electricity (for the first time) using an old brass lampholder and paired with a c1900 handblown glass coolie shade. Dimensions in inches/cm; 18.5"/47cm max projection to edge of coolie shade (15.5"/39.5cm from backplate/wall to edge of trefoil tap). 4.625"/11.75cm backplate diameter.
